full time IT Network Technician

at Mercer and Hole in St Albans, Herts

We are looking for a technically experienced, analytical individual to provide the day-to-day operation, support and control of all network and server equipment within the firm, ensuring that all IT services and infrastructure meet their operational targets. Duties will include the routine start-up and shutdown of services, backup and data restore of production data, routine installation and/or removal of server hardware and software, creating and following plans and documentation, liaising with specialist, external 3rd parties and IT service providers to ensure the IT network and server infrastructure deliver the services expected by the firm.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or hold an equivalent professional qualification and have Microsoft MCSE accreditation. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, planning and organisation skills, relationship building skills are essential as is the ability to demonstrate skills in key technologies including MS Visio, MS Office, Microsoft Active Directory, Windows 2003 Servers, MS Exchange 2007, MS SQL 2005, Citrix Presentation Server 4.5.

The role is based in St Albans, however, there is a requirement to travel to other offices on a regular basis.
