Legal and Operations Director
at Climate Bridge in London - Victoria
The Legal and Operations Director will be a very commercial lawyer, with some existing knowledge of climate change law. S/he will also need to be an entrepreneurial, “small company” person – ready to get their hands dirty, to show independence and initiative, to be comfortable with a variety of different areas of advice (including on purely commercial and financial matters). Responsibilities
? Commercial Negotiations
o Negotiate and close ERPAs (emission reduction purchase agreements), and liaise with Climate Bridge’s external lawyers on specific legal issues
o Negotiate partnership agreements with DOEs (validation and verification entities) and customers
o Assist with partnership agreements and structuring of new financial vehicles
? Relationship Management
o Manage Climate Bridge’s relationships with the European DOEs
o Manage relationships and operational arrangements with the carbon credit registries used by Climate Bridge
? Legal, Taxation and Financial Compliance
o Manage corporate structuring (jurisdiction issues, transfer pricing, valuation, auditing, etc…)
o Address other incidental legal matters (NDAs, KYC for different clients, registries, exchanges etc)
o Manage our multi-national teams of accountants to ensure that our monthly and annual accounts are in compliance with relevant taxation and financial regulations
? Corporate Strategy
o Join the Board and serve as Company Secretary
o Represent Climate Bridge at carbon market conferences in Europe and the USA
o Take an increasingly large role Climate Bridge’s commercial activities (carbon credit trading, and financing emission reduction projects the world over)
Requirements
? Law degree
? At least one year of experience in climate change law
? Commercial mindset and comfort driving contract negotiations to enlarge the pie
